Clouds Creek Bridge Reconstruct

Cost: $100,000

Contractor: Coastal Works

Client: Clarence Valley Council

Client Referee: Alex Dalrymple

Coastal Works was contracted by Clarence Valley Council for assistance after the devastating bushfires during November 2019 and then flooding of January 2020.

The five span timber bridge crossing Clouds Creek on the main road between Armidale and Grafton was severely damaged by the bushfires, forcing its closure. CVC installed a temporary low level crossing to allow the road to be reopened. This low level bridge was only in service for a short period before being washed away, turned upside down from its abutments.

Coastal Works was able to mobilise at short notice to rescue the bridge and reconstruct the crossing and allow the main road to be reopened.
