Coastal Works was contracted by Department of Education and Training to replacement a foot bridge at Bellingen High School. The original bridge had dilapidated to a state where it was in danger of collapsing. A replacement bridge was needed that would be the least disruptive to students as the school bus bay was located at one end of the structure.
It was decided that the quickest option would be to construct the new bridge from composite materials with the centre 18 metre span being constructed off site and then lifted into position.
The new structure will provide a maintenance free option for the school and enhance the flow of water in the creek.
